Range Work Day November 3, 2018

ERGC Members,

Hello members, friends and fellow shooting enthusiasts. It looks like the range made it through the storm without any major damage and we are hopeful you and your loved ones are all doing well. It looks like Fall may finally be arriving. This sets us up perfectly for our next range work day on Nov 3rd. We had a great turnout in June and with the weather cooling off it will be the perfect time to really bring some great new enhancements to our club. The goal every month is to make the shooting experience and the time you spend at the best shooting facility in the Panhandle the best experience possible. If we put a big dent in this list, we will have increased the fun factor 10 fold shooting at the range. We need as many volunteers as possible to give up a little time to make our range a better place to shoot.

The plan is to shut the range down the morning of 3 Nov and work from 0800 – 1200. Following what we believe will be a very productive day, you will be treated to a free lunch and drinks. But wait, that’s not all. It would be un-American to spend time at the range without a little shooting. So, after lunch the plan is to slip over to one of the ranges and have a quick match. How does a $5 dollar entry fee along with the club throwing in $100 dollars and we will split the money up to the top three shooters. I’m open for suggestions, but maybe a little man on man shoot off style match. Look forward to seeing you all there.

Trench and run power cable to all ranges
Run power to the Barn Conex’s
Install lighting in Conex’s
Build divider berms on ranges 6 &7
Install steel targets on rifle ranges
Build and install plate rack on range 5
Build and install .22 range (east end of rang #5)

Range Work Day July 7, 2018 a great success!

Great things were accomplished during the July 7th, 2018 range work day! Big thanks to all the members that came out and contributed to the success. Big thanks also, to Jeff Chestney, club President for putting in all the time to organize, obtain materials, and assign project managers for each task. Made the day run smooth and got everyone out of the afternoon heat. Great job!

New benches were built and placed on Range 1, 6 and 7.

CONEXs were painted.

Bathroom building and range office were painted.

Well house was primed.

Work was completed around 10:30 AM. Lunch was served. Then the games began. The moving target on Range 6 was put into play for those that wanted to take the challenge! This is what ERGC is all about. Membership, social club, family fun.

July 7, 2018 Range Workday

ERGC Members,

Hello members, friends and fellow shooting enthusiasts. June has flown by and this is a reminder that we are just one week out from our scheduled work day on 7 July. Below is a revised list of the projects we plan to complete.

The plan is to shut the range down the morning of 7 July and work from 0800 – 1100. Following what we believe will be a very productive day, you will be treated to a free lunch and drinks. But wait, that’s not all. It would be un-American to spend time at the range without a little shooting. So, after lunch the plan is to slip over to range 6 and have a quick side match on the Action Pistol moving target. How does a $5 dollar entry fee along with the club throwing in $100 dollars and we will split the money up to the top three shooters. If you haven’t ever shot on a mover, it’s pretty addictive and I think all will have a great time.

Projects

Seating at ranges #1 and #2 (total of 15 benches) Jeff Chestney
Install hand rails and secure shooting tables on range 5
Paint conexes (Mike Roberts)
Paint the club house and bathrooms (Mike Roberts)
Mend and maintain range fencing Charles Gorman
Set poles and install new main gate Hobbie Chestney
Berm Maintenance

Project managers are listed above to minimize down time and complete as much as possible. Any unique qualification you have, please don’t hesitate to contact myself or Mike Roberts and we will coordinate your expertise. Looking forward to meeting getting to know as many of you as possible.

Respectfully,
Jeff Chestney
ERGC President
